The text is presented to be rather informal as it attempts to appeal to the audience of adults and teenagers looking to go to prom yet it does not implement any colloquialisms. The purpose of the text is to inform the audience how much teenagers typically spend on the event and the pressure they face. Response: compare and contrast how text A+B create meanings and representations In both texts, the writers use language to convey shock at the amount of  money being spent on prom. In text A, the writer highlights the sheer amount o money is spent, saying "it's crazy the amount of money some people spend", example text B also highlights this as it  discusses proms as "sending sales of tuxedos rocketing". The adjective 'crazy' is used to represent the amount of money people spend on prom and how it is ridiculous. The use of the progressive verb 'rocketing' is used to represent the increase in expenditure by boys on prom.  In both texts we also see girls being represented as 'prom obsessed' which is typically a stereotype society interpret. Accentism Article   'accentism is a real thing- just ask us brummies' is an a informal written article which raises the issue of how the Birmingham accent  is constantly mocked and how it negatively affects those who have the accent. the intended audience for the article is those who take the mick out of such accents and why it should be stopped.  As we begin to read the article, the issue is immediately addressed as the author negatively speaks of how people mocking the Birmingham accent negatively affects him,saying 'its hard speaking in a way that everyone in the UK detests and continually rips the piss out of ', this sets the tone for the rest of the article as he continues to discuss this problem.The author also mentions how in a supposed 'fair and equal' society, people are still discriminated against over their accents, saying 'its ok'. this is done to somewhat mock society for believing itself to be more righteous than it is and something lik...

My 5 articles 1) My first chosen article is on the shortage of teachers schools are expecting to face, i chose this article as not only does it fall under the 'academic' category, but is also what i feel is an important issue facing society as the lack of teachers significantly impacts the future generation and can be proven to be detrimental to the progress of our country.The article itself is insightful and addresses the issue we face, along with the stats to back up these points.
